Hermannsburg School

It’s school time again! The Little Oaks Kindergarten is buzzing again, with everyone so excited to be back at school.  Some of our new scholars felt a little bit nervous and scared on their first day of school, because of all the new things like new teachers and new friends. Luckily, these ‘new’ worries only stick around for a little while. We started off with going over classroom etiquette and how to apply physical distancing, as well as (most certainly!) how to properly wash our hands. All our scholars are motivated, eager to learn and there is a great sense of community in the groups – we are looking forward to an exciting and fulfilling year ahead.

And on Friday we celebrated St. Valentine’s Day in our Little Oaks Kindergarten, albeit not in our typically busy and exciting way – due to Covid-19, we had to do it differently. So we set aside time for making beautiful Valentine’s cards for our moms, dads, grannies, grandpas, uncles and aunts, to say to them “we love you very much”. We set up a Valentine’s ‘photo booth’ – with all hygiene and distancing precautions – to create lovely photos that our teachers sent to the relatives on Sunday. To stay safe is very important to us, and we hope that we can soon celebrate Valentine’s Day again like we used to in the past.

Hermannsburg’s Little Oaks, Phathisiwe Ngobese, Othandweni Nene, Jack Long and  Bethany Harbottle celebrated St. Valentine’s Day (with suitable distancing), having made cards for their families.
