Skills, knowledge, attitudes, and values are conveyed in every subject. Given our fast-paced, modern world the focus is on skills and values, but knowledge and attitudes are by no means neglected. Our scholars learn the skills they need to cope with new situations and are taught the core values that underpin a functional society. Problem-solving and critical thinking are core skills that empower our scholars to achieve their goals, one of which is to matriculate by passing the Independent Examinations Board national senior certificate examinations. We offer subjects in the languages, humanities, arts and sciences (including commerce and technology), catering to a wide range of interests and abilities to leverage individual talents and dreams.

SOUL

Nourishing the soul gives meaning to everything else. Hermannsburg’s Lutheran Christian ethos is a foundation that all our scholars can experience and choose to embrace. It is supported by the school’s commitment to Positive Education using the PERMA-V model: Positive emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Achievement and Vitality. Daily devotions and the opportunity to attend weekly Sunday services with the local congregation, along with the experience of positive education throughout each day, provides our scholars with the tools to build a foundation on which they can base their lives.

Be it in the classroom, online, on the sports field or around the campus, our teachers emphasise ‘connection over content’, to ensure that our scholars are in the best frame of mind to fulfil their potential.
