Carl Orff (1895-1982) was a German composer and educator who developed a unique approach to music with the ‘Orff instruments’. Using Orff instruments during music lessons is one of many unique approaches used to introduce our scholars to the wonderful world of music. Here they can improvise, experience, and create their own rhythm. It also helps to develop hand-eye co-ordination, fine motor skills and – best of all – brings sheer happiness.

Hermannsburg’s Little Oaks Slindokuhle Zondi, Subhnet Kaur, Uzanokuhle Mhlongo, Jacques Walter, and Josiah Harbottle had great fun composing their own tunes on the school’s Orff instruments.
