A packed Congregation Hall applauded and cheered as one well-known, old-time favourite number after another was presented on stage. The fabulous costumes, matched by the polished performances, slick presentations and superb soloists made up a most amazingly packaged musical and artistic feast.
The variety of items ranged from no less than seven pianos being played simultaneously on the stage (with the artists sitting, lying and perched at various jaunty angles), through a four-drum-set roll of rhythmic thunder (enough to bring the house down), to delicately presented extracts from old time favourites like "Matchmaker" from "Fiddler on the Roof". The pièce de résistance was the in-house adaptation of "Chocolat".
Behind the scenes, Hermannsburg’s director of music, Gérard’d du Toit, assisted by Music teachers Edeltraut Johannes and Ingrid Köhne and German teacher Matthias Stenzel, worked extremely hard together with their students to put together such a delightful programme.
